Prospect Heights |

HistoryProspect Heights is a classic neighborhood and what is fiercely unique about New York’s Long Island. The fall of the World Trade Towers seems like a long time ago for some, but the residents of Prospect Heights will be haunted by it for years to come. Across Upper New York Bay’s eastern channel, the East River is the view that everyone in Flatbush and Bed Sty had to live with for that year. Prospect Heights was already a strong community established by name as early as 1890. This was Joan River and Mark Rudd territory. This very small section of Brooklyn just last year was declared a historical district sanctioned by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. It is residential area of ornate brownstones and once attractive apartments and department stores currently in tremendous flux thanks to big developers reclaiming many of the abandoned structures. DescriptionProspect Heights is that upper western corner of Brooklyn that borders the water. Crossing into Manhattan on the Brooklyn or the Manhattan Bridge by car or foot are two options and, of course, the subway, known as the train, will get you over the water too. The Brooklyn Queens Expressway and the East River create the western border with the southern edge bordered by Atlantic Avenue. To the east is the infamous Flatbush Avenue or Washington depending on which camp you belong to and the north is again the water or York Street. ResidentsProspect Heights residents are very New York. Brooklynites are probably the proudest residents of the city. This northern part of Brooklyn is home to the largest West Indian Festival on the east coast. White and blacks have created what Prospect Heights is today. More young families are moving into this locale for the attractive tree lined streets, spacious Prospect Heights apartment rentals and parking friendly Prospect Heights homes for rent. Rental HousingProspect Heights rentals are plenty and the inventory is growing. Starting as low as $1900 for an efficiency, the Archstone Brooklyn on Montague offers 2 and 3 bedrooms also. Different types of floor plans are available and the amenities range from a fitness center to a resident concierge. This popular area is in the southeast corner of Brooklyn Heights. If you prefer views of the water and NYC, the condos at Brooklyn Bridge Park and Main Street will get you stunning 2 and 3 bedrooms apartments under $6000. Many in this area have underground parking for an extra fee. If you have a larger family, a Brooklyn Heights' 4 bedroom apartment rental can be had in the lovely Neo-Grec Grace Court for as little as $7000. The washer and dryer are in your unit! Fun StuffBarclays Center is the central focus of Atlantic Yards, which will feature an arena and convention halls. Hopefully, this ambitious center will meet its goal to sponsor a part of the 2014 Super Bowl events. Residential units will also be a part of this fun new Prospect Heights plan. |
